Every Halloween an estimated 41 million kids go trick-or-treating on Halloween, collecting an estimated 600 million pounds of candy. If you were (or are) a lucky kid, your parents wouldn’t allow you to eat your candy until they had gone through it and verified none of it had been tampered with. Most kids find this act frustrating, ridiculous, and a waste of time. But there was once a time when checking the candy was crucial. Unfortunately, Ronald O’Bryan checked the candy before giving it to trick-or-treaters.

Codex Gigas: The Devil’s Bible

The Codex Gigas is the largest surviving medieval illuminated manuscript in the world. At 36 inches tall, 20 inches wide, 8.7 inches thick, and weighing in at 165 pounds, the manuscript is most commonly known as The Devil’s Bible, thanks to its full-size portrait of the Devil. While portraits of the Devil were common during medieval times, this one is unique as he is portrayed alone on the page, and standing at approximately 19.5 inches tall. He is naked apart from an ermine loincloth, crouching and leaning forward. As Ermine is worn as a sign of royalty, it is believed that the Devil wears this to demonstrate that he is the Prince of Darkness.

Samurai (/saməˌrī/)
Noun: A member of a powerful military caste in feudal Japan, especially a member of the class of military retainers of the daimyos.

During the Heian period (794-1185 AD), there was a Samurai who was a most fearsome warrior. While away, working to subdue the native Emishi people in the Tohoku Region, his wife, Kuchisake was left home, unattended.

Hello Momo: Real or Just a Game?

Where’s Amy Lynn Bradley?

Going on a week long cruise is a dream for any young woman, even if it’s with her family. In March, 1998, 23 year old Amy Lynn Bradley boarded the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Rhapsody of the Seas with her mom, dad, and brother. After a night of dancing, she was spotted by her father, sound asleep on on their cabin’s balcony. A short while later, she was gone without a trace.
