Nathan Dunlap and Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria

On the day of December 14, 1993, in Aurora, Colorado, there was a shooting that killed four people, and severely injured one.

Have you ever heard of the game Five Nights at Freddy’s? The game where you’re looking at cameras and avoiding animatronics from 12:00 AM until 6:00 AM? Well, it’s not all fun and games, unfortunately.

Theorists believe that the incident that took place on December 14, 1993 in Aurora, Colorado at a local Chuck E Cheese is paralleled to that. Ever wonder why the animatronics, named Bonnie, Freddy, Chica, and Foxy twitch their heads and hide in the darkness, plotting to kill you before your shift ends? Kids, lured into the back room at the original restaurant, by what everyone calls, “The Purple Guy,” were murdered brutally and stuffed inside of the animatronic suits. Visitors of the pizzeria constantly complained of the foul odor that wafted off the animatronics, as well as the blood and mucus that would run from their eyes and mouths.

The children want revenge, they want to kill you so you understand their pain.

Back to the real world, in 1993, the local Chuck E Cheese in Aurora, Colorado. Employees were cleaning the pizzeria for the next day of parties. There were five people there, that night, including 19 year-old Sylvia Crowell, Ben Grant, also 19, Colleen O’Connor, 17, Bobby Stephens, who was 20 at the time, and finally, was 50 year-old Marge Kohlberg, the manager of the restaurant. However, unknown to them, there was a sixth man in the building.

19 year-old Nathan Dunlap awaited in the bathroom. Nathan was equipped with a .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol as he exited the bathroom at approximately 10:05 PM. First, Dunlap shot Sylvia, who was cleaning the salad bar. She was hit from a close range behind her right ear, instantly leading to her death. Not long after, Ben Grant was shot near the left eye, as he was vacuuming near the arcade.

The next victim was Colleen O’Connor, who sunk to her knees in fear and began pleading for her life. However, Dunlap showed no mercy and shot her in the top of the head. Next, was Bobby Stephens, who was the lone survivor of the shooting. He returned to the restaurant after taking a break by smoking outside, assuming the noise he heard from the restaurant when he was outside were children popping balloons nearby.

As Bobby walked into the restaurant and began unloading utensils into the dishwasher, Dunlap came through the kitchen door, raised the handgun at him, and fired a shot that struck Stephens in the jaw. He then fell to the floor and played dead. Finally, Dunlap then forced Marge to unlock the safe. After she opened it, Dunlap shot her in the ear. As he was taking the cash out of the safe, Dunlap fired a second fatal shot through Marge Kohlberg’s other ear after he noticed she was still moving.

Dunlap fled the scene with $1,500 worth of cash and game tokens he stole from inside the restaurant. Dunlap was arrested at his mother’s apartment twelve hours later.

Theorists believe that this tragic event was paralleled to the game of Five Nights at Freddy’s. As Sylvia is like Freddy, Ben to Bonnie, Colleen as Chica, Marge is like Foxy, and Bobby is the secreted character, Golden Freddy.
