Alexandra Wiwcharuk: The Girl in Saskatoon

On Friday, May 18, 1962, 23-year-old Alexandra Wiwcharuk disappeared. Her body was discovered 13 days later in a shallow grave on the riverbank of the South Saskatchewan river. She had been beaten, sexually assaulted, and buried alive. 60 years later, her murder remains unsolved.

It’s one thing when we can find the perpetrator and give them their due punishment (though we can ask if any punishment is ever enough), but what about when we can’t find them? That is the case with the Oakland County Child Killer (OCCK), who has yet to be identified.

The Unsolved Murder of Grégory Villemin

At 9pm on October 16, 1984, four-year-old Grégory Villemin was found drowned in the Vologne River near Docelles in eastern France. A wool hat had been pulled down over his face and his hands and feet had been bound with a rope. The next day, his family received a letter reading, “I have taken vengeance,” but the killer has yet to be identified.

The Unsolved Alphabet Murders

Parents have a lot to think about when naming their new baby. What does a name mean? Do you want to honor a relative by using theirs? What are potential nicknames? Some parents like to get cutesy and creative, and use alliteration in their childs’ names. This can be seen in some celebrities, like Amy Adams, Steven Spielberg, and Marilyn Monroe. For three little girls in Rochester New York, that name alliteration was a death sentence. They will forever be remembered as victims of the Alphabet Murders.

Kendrick Johnson: Accident or Murder?

Imagine this. You’re 17 and in High School. As a 3-sport athlete, you have aspirations of playing professional football. One day, you decide to stay after school, watch the evening’s basketball game. Your parents know where you are; you told them you’d be home after the game. But you don’t go home. In fact, you’d never go home again. Instead, you’d spend your last days in the High School gym. That was the case for Kendrick Johnson on January 10, 2013.

The Disappearance of “Lucky” Lord Lucan

His friends called him “Lucky,” but one has to question whether Richard John Bingham, the 7th Earl of Lucan, commonly known as Lord Lucan, was even close to being lucky. His gambling debts put a strain on his family and his marriage. A lengthy custody battle left him at odds with the woman he once loved. And to top it all off, he is forever remembered for disappearing without a trace, suspected of attacking his wife, and murdering the nanny.
